“Because It’s Summer Somewhere” 2019 Holiday Gift Guide!

Last Updated on November 26, 2019 by Marybeth

While some of you are cocooned in your wool blankets, fingers wrapped around a steaming mug of something (with maybe a dram of bourbon?) ordering those fleece-lined leggings for yourself and all your family members, it is still summer in the souls of the rest of us.

Heavy gray skies and scratchy woolens that don’t smell great have little appeal for beach lovers. Whether you live year-round where the temperatures are balmy (and okay, sometimes brutal) or are just barely getting through your frigid winter with your sanity intact, we’ve got some gift ideas that will give you and your giftees that doors-thrown-open-to-the-sun feeling.

Here at Triple-B we only recommend independently owned places to stay, dine, and shop. Places where families, moms and pops, and small business owners put their creative spin and hard work into giving you a singular experience or product. We believe Small Business Saturday should be every day of the year! Support local, shop independent, shop small.

South Florida Clothiers

“As Unique and Stylish as the Place We Call Home” would probably have drawn us in from the beginning because we too are proud of our beloved state’s uniqueness, but South Florida Clothiers went beyond just a perfect tagline. Every Friday on Instagram this team comes up with an epic list of Florida Friday Fun Facts that blows even our minds (because we tend to pat ourselves on the back for finding good Florida tales, especially those that may raise an eyebrow.)

So we could just tell these are fun people, and then when we felt that shirt we were sold. Just trust us on this one: their proprietary blend of 98% Peruvian Pima Cotton and 2% Lycra is softer than soft. I don’t know if you know Pima like I know Pima (I’ve googled “the softest/coolest Pima cotton sheets” like a madwoman on a mission) but Peruvian Pima is the longest-staple cotton in the world. It’s the length of the staple, you all!

Combined with obsessive (their word, not mine!) details (custom laser engraved buttons! Double track stitching!) and that cute stone crab logo (did you know stone crabs are the only sustainable, renewable marine resource in the US? Another fun fact) their polo shirt will take you from golfing or beach combing to cocktails and dinner.

Coming soon to their website will be hats, t-shirts, and long sleeved shirts with SPF 50 S4 (S4 being Sun Swim Sail Surf); check back with them soon!

Poinsettia Groves

Shipping premium citrus gifts since 1947! These people know what they’re doing.

We who live in Florida tend to take our delicious readily available Florida oranges and grapefruit for granted. Some of us may have even been guilty of bragging and sparking envy! But instead of being selfish with our bounty we’ve grown up and have learned to share. For as little as $30.99 you can have the fresh gift of Florida citrus shipped to your less fortunate friends and family. And if you’ve visited our Sunshine State and are pining away up north, treat yourself. Poinsettia Groves also ships Florida Marmalade and Southern Caramel, so citrus isn’t the only sweet on offer!

With a plethora of offerings – Honeybell Tangelos, Ruby Red Grapefruit, and Ortaniques to name a few – a wide variety of gift combos, and the option to join the Indian River’s Best Fruit Club, your gift-giving needs can be met on one visit to their website. Or visit their retail store in Vero Beach at 1481 US 1.

The Cabana Co.

If your beach or lake house, your pool – or even your garden – doesn’t have an outdoor shower, what is your life like? Are you really letting people traipse inside (tracking who knows what all over your floors) to shower?

Nostalgia meets modern day convenience in The Cabana Co. outdoor shower. Made in the U.S.A. – yay! – of removable Sunbrella fabric with a triple function rain shower head, aluminum frame, wood slat floor, integrated soap shelf and towel hook, roll curtain with interior privacy snaps, hot water capability and more.

Choose from Rosie’s Red, Boardwalk Blue, Yellow Fella, Starlit Night (black and white stripes) and coming soon, South Pacific Sand. Lightweight – at approximately 100 lbs., including the floor – and easy to set up, the dimensions are a 44″ x 44″ and 100″ high. Your Cabana shower can be shipped anywhere in the States.

Ultimats USA

If you’ve been with us for awhile you know I want everything to be cute. As a graphic designer and (amateur) photographer, visuals are everything. For years I’ve stubbornly continued to purchase coir door mats because they have pink flamingos, dogs, and fun sayings like “Nice underwear” (which I would never have at my house; that’s kind of gross.)

What is the saying when you do something over and over and expect a different result? Anyway you know what happens to coir door mats. They stay intact and bright for maybe four days, and then you’re tracking that hay-like stuff inside.

Now with our Defender Ultimat we aren’t tracking anything inside. Living a mile from the beach we used to just accept that life here = sand. ‘Keep the outside outside’ with this high quality, UV resistant, fast drying, anti-microbial hard working beast. With raised surface cleaning nubs, underside channels and drainage ports, and optional nylon scrubbing brushes, your Defender will keep your outside – be it sand, snow, or other unspeakable contaminants – outside. Save the pink flamingos for your lawn.

Flamingo Magazine

Stunning images, stellar writing that makes us want to up our game, and an authentic Florida point of view for Floridians by Floridians: the Flamingo Magazine is our only statewide lifestyle magazine. You’ll immerse yourself in everything Florida – people, conservation, outdoor adventures, restaurants, shopping, and more.

With various sections headed Pursuits, Voices, Habitats, Fare, Floridians, Travel, Culture and Style you’ll be pouring yourself another cup of coffee (or wine!) and settling in for an enjoyable afternoon. One of our favorites is their Just Hatched segment, highlighting all the new openings of restaurants, shops, galleries, resorts and more – “debuts to peruse”- around our sunshine state.

Kristi Pimentel Seashell Designs

Wreaths are taking the internet by storm; I just read that on the internet. And the reason is because they’re not just for Christmas anymore. Adorn your door year-round with summer vibes, or place a gorgeous shell and starfish mirror above your sideboard to reflect the mixed bag of people at your holiday dinner gathering.

Kristi Pimentel Designs isn’t your typical mom-next-door glueing her flotsam and jetsam helter skelter to random objects and slapping shellac on top. You know the type. The type we say “Bless her heart,” about or, more recently, just “bless.” (It’s more to the point, and less cliché.)

You’ll find upscale, elegant statement pieces crafted with much creativity and exquisite attention to detail, made with unique materials such as blue limpet, blue mussels, various kinds of coral, pearls, barnacles, sea glass, starfish and much more. Kristi also creates beautiful jewelry, available on her site.

Visit her online – click her name above – or in person at the adorable historic cottage shop behind the Liles Hotel Historic Plaza in Riverside Park, Bonita Springs.

Sarah Page Art

We’re including this talented woman not only because she’s an amazing multimedia artist (muralist, graphic designer, chalk artist, painter) but also because she created this Spacewalk Tee, in honor of the NASA all-female spacewalk that took place on October 18, 2019. A giant leap for womankind! The sky is no longer the limit for women (and I quote from Mandy Mizell; thank you Mandy.)

Sarah Page was an open-call winner in the 2018 SHINE St. Pete mural festival and the Sustainability Lead for Creative Mornings Palm Beach.

40/60 Cotton/poly blend unisex tee printed on Next Level apparel. The Spacewalk print we included in our first image is also available, as are original paintings, click her name above to visit and shop!
