In 2009 George Trosset went surfing dressed as Santa on Christmas Eve, and his son and daughter-in-law as his elves. Florida Today published a photo of them on the front page of Christmas day’s newspaper, and friends asked if they could join them the following year. Each year the group of surfing Santas grew, and last year over 300 Santas surfed and 18 local skydiving enthusiasts “sky surfed.”  Ron Jon Surf Shop offered to underwrite the event, The Fat Kahuna Restaurant served an all you can eat pancake breakfast and donated the proceeds.

Santa is amped to carve some waves before setting out on his big night. Fingers crossed the water will be cranking, and not just ankle busters.

So don’t be a grinch! Come out and support this awesome cause, put on something festive, funny,  or fancy, and enjoy the scenery. Merry Christmas!
